Allison Family Pictures

The photos below are from Lillian Allison’s two photo albums. I estimate the pictures are from about 1910 to about 1918. For my Allison cousins who are descendants of William Allison, there are pictures of the Harrington family, William’s in laws. If any cousins have additional information about these pictures including corrections, please contact me.

The Allison family house 1420 West Street, Grinnell, Iowa. Based on information in Ancestry the family moved from Deep River in 1912. Marion Allison, Blanche’s husband and William, Emma, Lillian, and Mima’s father, passed away shortly after they moved in. The house no longer exists. We looked for the house during a 2022 visit and it appears the lot and surrounding area are now a part of Grinnell College.

Blanche Kisor Allison (both pictures on left}; upper right Blanche and perhaps Emma Allison; lower right Mima Allison and unknown.

Above: MGA is Mima Allison, LBC is Lillian Allison.I don’t know who the woman with the dark trimmed dress is but would ask my Allison cousins if she’s related.

Aside from LBA – Lillian Allison I don’t know the people above.

I think these pictures from William Allison, Lillian’s older brother’s farm. It was located about three miles north of Grinnell. It may have originally been William’s in-laws, the Harrington’s farm.

William Allison’s farm.

I don’t know who the woman in the upper left is. Upper right is Lillian. Arbor Lake is in Grinnell.

Pictures of Lillian and Mima Allison. Lower left picture is Marion Allison’s headstone in the IOOF (International Order of Odd Fellows) Cemetery in Montezuma, Iowa. Blanche was buried there in 1932 and daughter Emma who died with the recently widowed Lillian was buried with her parents in 1947.

I don’t know about the pictures above.

Upper right – Blanch Kisor Allison and maybe Emma Allison.

115 Upper left ?Harlan’s wife, Mima Allison; upper left center -could be Fred Carpenter but I’m not sure; lower center right – Mary Allison and her father W. Harlan Allison, lower right – maybe Lillian.

116 Duplicate picture of mystery woman; upper right – not sure about the couple on the left but I believe the two on the right are Lillian Allison and Fred Carpenter.

117 I posted this album page on the Forgotten Iowa History Facebook page and learned they built ‘aeroplanes’ in Grinnell. The plane has Otto W. Timm on the side. Aooarently Timm was an early aviator. I don’t know who the guy is in the picture. lihttps://earlyaviators.com/etimm.htm
